There's been a lot of noise around Black Ops 7 Season 4, and for once it doesn't feel forced. The cinematic trailer gave players enough to chew on without spelling everything out. Old-school fans are talking weapons, newer players are watching the operator skins, and grinders are already planning routes through the Battle Pass. That's also why Black Ops 7 Bot Lobbies are getting more attention, especially from players who'd rather spend less time stuck on slow unlocks and more time actually testing the new season's gear.
What players are watching first
  • The possible return of the AN-94 and whether its burst timing still feels sharp
  • Leon Rook's more grounded operator style in the premium pass
  • Vertigo coming back with faster movement and riskier sightlines
  • Weapon levelling, camo work, and Battle Pass progress once the season goes live
The AN-94 could change the early weapon metaThe AN-94 isn't just another assault rifle to people who played the older Black Ops games. It had a rhythm. Tap it right, and those first two shots could melt someone before they had time to react. Spray with it like a normal rifle, though, and you'd lose a lot of what made it special. That's the bit players are nervous about. If Treyarch keeps the hyper-burst feel, the gun could become a favourite for careful aimers. If it gets softened too much, it may end up feeling like a familiar name on a different weapon.
FeatureWhy it mattersPlayer reaction
AN-94Rewards trigger control and clean aimVeterans want the old burst identity back
Leon RookOffers a tougher military lookPremium pass players see him as a strong chase reward
VertigoPushes vertical fights and quick decision-makingMovement players are expecting chaos
Leon Rook feels built for players who like gritLeon Rook stands out because he isn't trying to be loud for the sake of it. No glowing armour, no strange party outfit, no joke skin that pulls you out of the match. He looks like someone who belongs in a hard push through smoke and bullets. That matters more than people admit. A lot of players still like operators that feel tactical, heavy, and believable. If Rook is tied closely to the premium Battle Pass and Blackcell track, he'll probably become one of those skins you keep seeing in lobbies during the first few weeks.
Vertigo should reward nerve, not just aimVertigo has always been a map where one bad step can ruin a good streak. High lanes, exposed edges, awkward angles, it all adds pressure. With Black Ops 7's movement tools, that pressure gets turned up. You'll see players diving across gaps, hanging from ledges, and trying risky wall routes just to break a setup. It won't be everyone's favourite map, and that's fine. Some maps are meant to be messy. Vertigo works because it forces fast choices, and those choices are where the best clips usually happen.
Keeping pace without burning outSeason 4 looks packed enough that casual players may feel behind pretty quickly. Between testing the AN-94, unlocking Rook, learning Vertigo again, and chasing camos, there's a lot to juggle. Some players will grind it all by hand. Others will look for help through options like buy BO7 Boosting when they want faster progress without turning the game into a second job. Either way, this season has the right mix of nostalgia and fresh pressure to keep lobbies busy for a while.
